We’re bombarded with articles on achieving the perfect “look” in graphic design. But what about the nitty-gritty challenges designers face every day?
The truth is, a designer’s journey is more than just creating visually appealing graphics. It’s a constant process of problem-solving, where aesthetics play a crucial role, but they’re just one piece of the puzzle.

🧩 Let’s talk about the challenges..

🚧 Content into template Trap

if you went through an experience before when you had a work process where you have to do content design, or you already were asked to establish a template then place content, you’ll know what i’m talking about. Those perfectly placed lorem ipsum lines rarely mirror the reality of client-provided content. Inevitably, text length, hierarchy, and even style can differ dramatically. This throws the entire design off-balance, requiring significant rework of the template.

So if you had choice, never design without content, cause even when the client gives you freedom, he will again ask to change some text thinking it’s just text and it doesn’t harm.

⚖️ Aesthetics Vs Important information

Adding new content often throws a wrench into your carefully crafted design. When you have to add more information to your design, ensuring everything fits together without overloading the viewer or sacrificing the established hierarchy. This often necessitates revisiting the entire design process — iterating on layouts, adjusting element sizes and positions, and exploring alternative arrangements.

️ 🏞️ Imagery Fit

The quest for the perfect image can turn into a designer’s worst nightmare. Finding that high-quality photo that seamlessly complements your design feels like searching for a holy grail. Stock websites often leave you empty-handed, and client-provided pictures can be a low-resolution disaster zone, forcing you to spend hours on cropping, editing, and praying they somehow fit the aesthetic.

We dream of a world where clients provide perfect photos — no weird proportions, questionable quality, or aesthetic clashes — but that seems like a meme waiting to happen. Even the allure of AI-generated images fades quickly when you encounter the uncanny valley — missing limbs, nonsensical objects, or AI models that just seem to get tired halfway through, leaving you with a face that looks like it gave up on life. Finding the right image feels like an endless battle, and sometimes, you just want to throw your hands up in frustration.

🛑 Creativity Block

Ah, the dreaded creative block combined with client pressure for “something new.” We’ve all been there, It feels like you’re staring at a blank canvas, your brain a barren wasteland, while a tiny voice in your head whispers existential threats about your entire career path.

But take a deep breath, fellow designer, it happens to the best of us — even the most creative minds get stuck. Sometimes we’re just thinking too much inside the box, so try to change some air and think fresh, maybe revise the project brief and you’ll notice things you missed. But hey, sometimes it’s not about your creativity — you might just have a client with some, well, outlandish expectations.

So, the next time you stare down a design hurdle, remember: you’re not alone. These challenges and countless others are a universal part of the graphic design experience.
